Helaine built UmbriaTango, the first school of Argentine Tango in the region of Umbria, just south of Tuscany, between 2000 and 2008, with the help and collaboration of her assistants, her colleagues from Rome (Marco "el duende" Spaziani, whom you see in this video, and Filippo Avignonesi, the man in the Naples Tango logo) and many visiting world-class Argentine maestros. When Helaine moved back to the US in November 2008, after twenty years in Italy, she passed UmbriaTango on to trusted new leadership, who gave it the new name "El Bandoneon", for the accordion-like instrument that gives Argentine Tango music its characteristic sound. The folkloristic dance with the crazy, fast-footwork, performed by Argentine artists Natacha Poberaj and Eduardo "El Gaucho" Villegas at the end of the video, is called "Chacarera", from northern Argentina.
